Electronics Attachment Tips

Delta Dental strongly encourages our participating dental offices to submit their attachments electronically. Not only does it save time, it is also extremely cost-efficient. Click here to see how much your office can save by billing electronically. To help our participating offices, we have compiled a list of suggestions and tips that are based on experiences and feedback from other offices.

TIPS FOR ELECTRONIC ATTACHMENTS

  • Always include the assigned NEA tracking number in the comments/notes/remarks field of your electronic claim and be sure to use the NEA format. It is crucial to use the number sign (#) and not to use any commas, spaces, or colons. Using an incorrect format will affect the processing of your claim.
  • Be aware that Delta Dental does not capture narratives in the comments/notes/remarks field of your practice management system's ADA claim form. Delta Dental will only capture the NEA#. Narratives can be written in the assigned box in your NEA software.
  • Be sure the image is readable and diagnostic. If the image is not clear in your office it will not be clear to Delta Dental when viewed on the NEA website.
  • NEA software has an "optional" box that includes a request for a group #. Delta Dental requires the group # to be completed.
  • Use the cut and paste feature to avoid transposing NEA#'s, and patient/subscriber ID numbers.
  • When responding to a request for additional information from an EOB, do not send a new claim. Fill in the NEA area "Did the payor request this attachment" and include the payor reference number (Delta Dental's claim number on the EOB).
